File Indexer

File Indexer — a cross-platform local file search tool with:

• Search — fast full-text search across indexed filenames using SQLite FTS5, with filtering by file extension and specific directories
• Directory management — add any local folder or external drive to the index, with recursive or top-level-only options. Quick-add buttons for common locations (Home, Documents, Downloads, etc.) and auto-detected drives/volumes
• Ignore patterns — glob-style patterns to skip folders and files (e.g. .git, node_modules, *.tmp). Preset buttons for common ones
• Live monitoring — background watchdog observer tracks file creates, deletes, moves, and modifications and updates the index automatically
• File actions — open files, reveal in folder, or copy the full path to clipboard directly from search results
• Cross-platform — works on Linux, macOS, and Windows (drive detection, file opening, and folder revealing all adapt to the current OS)

The database is stored persistently in your user data directory so your index survives restarts. You can start by clicking Add Directory in the header to add your first folder.
